I was born in Croydon and grew up on a croft in the West Highlands. I have been resident in Brockenhurst with my wife, Anna, since 2012 and a Green Party member on Brockenhurst Parish Council since 2015.
I initially trained and worked as a Chartered Agricultural Surveyor in Scotland, later with my own valuation & building design practice on the Isle of Arran (18 years). I re-trained and qualified as a Social Worker, working in Glasgow, Manchester and London (15 years). I completed my final five years in social work as Practice Manager with a specialist team in the London Borough of Southwark providing support services for children and families living with severe or profound disability. I gained a BA Hons. in Theology & I have trained and worked as Regional Makaton Tutor.
I am a Trustee for Brockenhurst Village Trust (Village Hall) and the Disability Representative on NFNPA Access Forum.
I am a keen cyclist and an active supporter of local initiatives that promote a sustainable environment and the inclusion of people with additional needs. I am very proud to be standing as a Green Party Candidate for Brockenhurst & Forest South East in the New Forest District Council Election on 2nd May 2019.
