Nick Bubb – New Forest West – General Election
The New Forest Green Party is delighted to introduce Nick Bubb as their candidate for the New Forest West constituency, at the general election on 12th December 2019.
Nick has lived in the New Forest area for over 10years, has two young children in school locally and is a Director at the international wildlife conservation organisation, Fauna & FloraInternational (FFI).
Ever since sailing around the world ina non-stop race 15 years ago, he’s believed that the principles of a ‘circular economy’, which governed life at sea, should be applied to society more broadly.
During a varied early career, he spent10 years as a professional sailor (having previously obtained an engineering degree) and 4 years working in the finance industry locally, as an investment manager.
For the last 6 years, he has dedicated his life to protecting the natural world with FFI, focusing on gaining high-level support for their global conservation programme. Nick’s represented FFI at major events such as as the World Economic Forum and given keynote speeches at numerous events around the world. Last year he gave this TEDx talk https://tedxzuriberg.com/2018/nickbubb.
Recognising the urgent environmental threats we face and the need for change more broadly, he has come forward to take up this challenge head-on. He stands out as an extremely credible, capable and exciting alternative to the current outdated Conservative hierarchy in power at the moment.
He is passionate about representing the local community and promoting the importance of environmental issues, alongside education, healthcare, affordable housing, and a socially responsible financial system.
Despite his busy schedule, he was a hardworking member of the Lymington and Pennington Town Council behind the scenes, from May 2015 to May 2019 and is courteous, unassuming, and unflappable. But he also possesses a hard edge, a powerful debating voice and a steely determination to get stuff done.
Nick and his team are entering the election campaign, with every intention of mounting the most serious challenge yet seen in the area. With Caroline Lucas MP providing the ‘green print’ just along the coast in Brighton Pavilion and Vix Lowthian leading the charge across the Solent on the Isle of Wight, the Green Party is building a stronghold on the south coast and Nick is very much central to this exciting movement.
Here is what Hugh Fernley Whittingstall has to say about Nick.
