NFGP Newsletter

Keith-taylorHello everyone!

First of all a BIG THANK YOU to everyone who pledged a donation on our Crowdfunder page. We have surpassed our target! It’s a massive achievement and thanks to all of the people who contributed.

The Green Party prides itself on its refusal to accept donors from big businesses, and is very much dependent on the generosity of our supporters. If you can spare a fiver (or more) please visit www.crowdfunder.co.uk/ new-forest-greens!

As we edge closer and closer to May 7th we are starting to ramp up our local election campaigns. You are a valuable resource and it’s your commitment to the party that helps bring change for the common good. New Forest Green Party is a small local group, run completely by volunteers – people just like you – who feel strongly about green issues and share the same values.

Would you like a Vote Green 2015 poster for your home or business? Please get in touch with your address and we will send some complimentary material out to you asap.

Our next NFGP meeting is on Tuesday 7th April at Greyfriars Community Centre in Ringwood at 7.30pm. Please get in contact with us ifyou’d like to come but don’t have transport and we will see if we can get you a lift to the venue.

Meet the NFGP Parliamentary Candidates:

Wow, we now have over 140 members! For the newcomers it might be nice to introduce our parliamentary candidates and the core members of the NFGP group:

Our two parliamentary candidates are Janet Richards (New Forest West) and Sally May (New Forest East).

Janet Richards is passionate about the countryside and the local community, being one of the founders of Futurefarms, a local food co-operative and community farm. Janet is actively  campaigning to keep fracking out of the New Forest (and out of the rest of the UK too) and increase the supply of affordable housing in the New Forest.

Sally May was voted onto Lymington and Pennington Town Council as a Green councillor in 2011 and ever since has been trying to educate and influence people about green issues.  She is joint coordinator for New Forest FoE and for the past ten years has also been treasurer for the Pennington Residents Association.

Our other core members include:

Helen Field,  the Membership Secretary, most of the emails you get will come from her. She’s been a party member for many years and it’s something she feels very passionate about.

Tim Rowe is our Treasurer and resident photographer, and John Pemberton the Party Chair/Coordinator.

Election Campaign News

It’s not too late to sign up as a district or parish candidate! You can be involved as little (or as much!) as you want to be, and we will support you as best as we can. We are especially looking for representation in the wards of Pennington, Lyndhust and Ringwood. There are TWO representatives needed for each ward so please do contact us if it’s something you would consider doing (Deadline is 9th April 2014).

Thursday saw our very successful public meeting on climate change in Brockenhurst.  We had Adam Ramsay who was an excellent speaker, as was  Richard Barnett from New Forest Transition, Rose Glendinning from Organic Bliss and local member Dan Fish. Over 70 people attended which was fantastic. It was a really interesting event.

Please don’t hesitate to reply to this email if you have any questions or comments.
